Bare Minerals Eye Starter Kit

His Family Are Nightmares!!

by HappyYellowCakes807 @ Off Topic Posts

Okay, so I don't know if this is the correct area or not, but I definitely need some advice or at the very least, unbiased opinions.

It's an extremely long story, so I won't go in to details unless you want to know everything. I'll give you the basics:

Been with SO for nearly 3 1/2 years. When we first met, his mother was completely obsessed with his ex girlfriend and would say things like "she's the daughter I never had" (she had a baby girl who suffered cot death). His sister in law is still best friends with her, and would text him saying that I'm not his ex-girlfriend and that we had nothing in common etc. So right from the start, I felt alienated. I wasn't a girly girl like she was and wasn't interested in watching Geordie Shore or TOWIE or anything like that. I did my best to ignore everything, even though I would walk in to his mother's house and see photos of him and his ex still plastered on the wall, and she brought the ex up in nearly every conversation.

I then fell pregnant, and the mother in law became very very obsessed and nosey. She was telling us what to name her, saying she wanted her every Friday and even moved down the street from us. Now, my little girl was born at 28 weeks gestation, and she was in the neonatal care unit for 7 weeks. Throughout this time, I was being treated for sepsis and was obviously extremely unwell, and me and my fiance weren't concentrating on anything except my daughter and myself getting better. The reason for her prematurity was my house had been covered in mould that the agency refused to deal with. (but that's another story). Now, when the mother in law came up to the hospital, she would look at all the other premature babies and comment on how beautiful they are and she wouldn't actually look at my daughter because she was too busy with everyone else's babies. The nurse actually had to tell her to stop because even if the parents weren't there, she would look at the babies in the incubator and the nurse said it's a violation of privacy. She would say things to the nurses like "she didn't even want kids a couple of months ago" which makes me sound absolutely awful. I'd said, way before I ever fell pregnant, that I wasn't that bothered about having kids. Throughout the 7 weeks, she came up about four times. So these little things really started to irritate me.

Whilst she was in the incubator, we moved in to my mum and dad's house, because we didn't have the money to move somewhere else, and I would need sufficient care when my partner returned to work. I think this is where the jealousy kicked in. Now, his father is an alcoholic abusive waste of space who beat the mother up and his children. She told her daughter to go f*ck herself when given the choice between her kids or him. So while ever he was at the house, we said our daughter wasn't going there. She was welcome to take her to the park (when she was a few months older) or take her shopping or whatever, but I didn't want my daughter around that man. His mother then started slagging my family off even though they hadn't done a thing wrong, and I'm the type of person who can't let things go. So I then refused to put an effort in with her. She refused to apologise, and blamed everything on everyone else, rather than herself.

Anyway, time goes on and she still hasn't apologised so we didn't really talk whenever she came around. I was diagnosed with cholecystitis and gallstones, as well as an issue with my heart, so I'd been hospitalised a few times. I fell pregnant again a few months after all this too. We found out that his mother had been slagging me off to his ex girlfriend saying that she wishes it was her that had got pregnant, that it was her kids not mine, that I'm a disrespectful *** and I'm rude etc. This was a massive blow to me, because it was one thing slagging me off and another to his ex who I already knew she was obsessed with.

Around 12 arguments have happened in total, so there is too much to go in to. Things like I shouldn't have took my daughter to go dress shopping for my brothers wedding because it was HER day to have her, I posted a status on Facebook about having a headache and that was apparently taking the p*ss out of her because she had a headache (didn't even have her added at this point), she leaves both of my daughters in the car on their own so she can run in to the petrol shop, she keeps them up until 11pm,12am which then throws off their entire schedule when I get them back. The latest thing is she has apparently taken some tablets and overdosed. She went to hospital and came out the next day. I find this a little strange because surely they would do something like a suicide watch? Anyway, both of his brothers have now got involved slagging me off and blaming my fiance for everything. I've been threatened by his dad on Facebook, her sister who I've never even met, has slated me on Facebook too. At the moment, it feels like everyone is against us, even though we've done nothing wrong but want to protect our daughters.

I've deleted all his family on my Facebook, changed my number and I don't speak to any of them now.

The whole point of this post is...do I invite them to the wedding? I mean, I don't think he even wants to, but I don't think I could sit there with his mother at the top table, looking in to the eyes of all these people who have called me every name under the sun. Do they deserve to be there?

Sorry for the long post!

I second getting a good brush, I use the Sephora mineral foundation brush with it. I found the bare minerals brand brushed fell apart on me.

@Coco Bee: Did you try the matte version of the foundation? I am not a fan of the original, but the matte is much more oil absorbing.

Meaningful Beauty by Cindy Crawford – One Month In

by Amy Garner @ Be Electrifying – Stay happy, stay healthy, stay beautiful…

It has been one full month since I began my review of the Meaningful Beauty system by Cindy Crawford, and I hope that you read this in full before making your decision whether to purchase or not. I originally posted on March 10, 2017 on my initial impression of the product with a promise to give an honest review as I always do. First, let me remind you that I am not new to trying out new face products, specifically when it comes to anti-aging creams and moisturizers. I am in my early 40’s, so keeping up with my aging skin is one of my top priorities. Moving On to My Review I purchased the 7 piece youth enhancing system, however, I did not use all of the products on day one. The only way to truly test something on it’s own is to space out how and when you use each step. I began with the skin softening cleanser, pore refining toner, and Creme de Serum. My initial reaction was that my face did feel softer to the touch. I went with this routine for a few days, and I then added the Lifting eye cream. Once I decided that my face was getting used to the products, I began using the Ultra Lifting and Filling Treatment. Here is Where the Real Review Begins Until I reached my mid 30’s, I suffered from mild acne breakouts. They finally subsided at that time to where I would only get a pimple or two every now and again. If I didn’t know any better, I would say that the minute the Ultra Lifting and Filling treatment touched my skin, it created a plethora of pimples on my face. I stopped using the Ultra Lifting and Filling treatment, and added the Antioxidant Day Cream in the morning, and then used the Creme de Serum at night. It is my experience that the Antioxidant Day Cream with SPF 20 had the same affect on my skin – pimples. In all fairness, I will say that I have always had trouble wearing any type of sunscreen on my face due to acne breakouts. Needless to say, I went back to the original routine of the cleanser, toner, and Creme de Serum (I used the Creme de Serum for both daytime and nighttime moisturizing). What Happened After a Full Month of Using the Meaningful Beauty System? I am now a month into using the product, and my face has cleared up, so it is fair to say that my breakouts were not due to the product. If you suffer from mild to moderate acne and are considering using an acne product, you can click here to read why we chose Proactive over X Out. I still have hope for the Lifting Eye Cream, which has not affected my skin in any way up to this point. And I mean that literally. It had no bad affects, and also had not shown any improvement on the […]

Another vote for! I use their foundation and really like it, and I've found that I can use a bit more on problem areas (thanks, pregnancy) and go lighter on areas that are clearer, and it still looks pretty natural. It's a little pricey, but I think it lasts a while, so I haven't felt like I'm breaking the bank with it. That said, I only use their foundation; for eye makeup and other stuff, I do drugstore/Target available brands.

@looch: I think it's the Well Rested :)

I've been using bare minerals since like 2001 and love it. daily I use the lotion or primer, foundation, well rested, blush or warmth, and mineral veil. I love that it's super light and doesn't feel like I've caked makeup on, but the coverage is fantastic. I highly recommend it. I have normal skin, not oily or dry. But on sticky days or whenever I get a little shiny from humidity, mineral veil stops it and keeps it at bay. Mineral veil also works great as a dry shampoo in a pinch

I use it & love it! There is an original version and a matte, I use the original because I get dry. It covers shockingly well! I still have regular concealor that I use from time to time when I have a bad breakout. It can settle in creases after a while which bothers me, but a primer underneath will prevent that. Just to give you an idea of how much coverage you get while still looking like skin, here's mine on DH's arm

Meaningful Beauty Lifting Eye Cream – Real Review

by Amy Garner @ Be Electrifying – Stay happy, stay healthy, stay beautiful…

If you are expecting a review of Meaningful Beauty Lifting Eye Cream, you are going to get just that, but please read through the entire post as it may not be what you are expecting. About a month ago, I began using the entire Meaningful Beauty system (you can read the full review here). Included in my 7 Piece Kit was the Lifting Eye Cream which I was very excited about. I had been seeing the infomercials on television for over a year, and I finally jumped in and purchased. I am beginning to get fine lines around my eyes that are more pronounced when I smile, and it really makes me self conscious, so needless to say, I was really hoping to reduce the appearance of these unsightly visitors. I applied the eye cream religiously twice a day for nearly a month. Now, I am a realist, so I did not expect to look like I was 20 again, but I did expect some sign that the product was working. Unfortunately, I did not take before and after photos, but I can say without a doubt that this product has done nothing to reduce the look of the “wrinkles” around my eyes. I plan to continue using the product on one eye, and have purchased a new eye cream that I am using on the other. I want to see if it will show anything different in month 2 compared to this new eye cream that I have read really great reviews about. I am not prepared to share the new eye cream with you just yet, but stay tuned because I will be posting about it soon enough. You can sign up for my newsletter, and I will email you the minute I post a new review. This blog is about honesty, and I always try to offer you the best advice on the beauty products that in my experience have worked, and even the ones that have not. In this case, my Meaningful Beauty Lifting Eye Cream review is one that I would not recommend you go out and purchase just yet. I am determined to find one that works so that you can enjoy the benefits without spending too much time, money and energy to find a good product. Until next time, stay happy, healthy and beautiful!

I use it and I love it! However, I spot conceal with a regular concealer and use Benefit Erase Paste for under eye circles. They say you can just use the concealer brush with the Bare Minerals and that works but it didn't for me. With that said, I like that I can only conceal the spots I need to and not slather foundation on my face and it gives me more coverage and more staying power than a regular loose powder.

I use the Matte version - my skin is a little on the oilier side!

I use it! We have bare minerals inside our macy's, so I had the people put some on me to see how i liked it. I started with the starter kit and LOVE it. it takes me 5 minutes in the morning, feels super light and doesn't make me break out.

I did buy the primer to put underneath it (to help it stay on longer) but have found that I only really needed that in the summer, when it melts off quicker from sweating!

Amy, I have been reading your blogs on and off for a lot of years now. Sometimes I get a little too addicted to the Internet and have to make myself stop for a while. But I always come back. :) Anyway, I have a question. It's sort of time sensitive since it involves whether or not I am having a makeup reaction and should stop using it before my face falls off (but I know you receive zillions of e-mails and might not be able to respond right away--just thought it wouldn't hurt to try asking you). I just recently purchased the Bare Minerals starter kit because I wanted something very light and natural. Confession: I am mostly a makeup virgin. Ok, I have worn it before. I have some makeup that I break out for special occasions. But no one ever really taught me how to use it well, and I never felt like I needed it. Now, I still don't think I NEED it, but I have had makeup done on me (by salons, at Mary Kay parties, and so on), and I've seen how a nice, simple "routine" can make me look

I used this for years in college, but I think my body/skin changed since then, and it started sliding around in my face a little too much for my taste. I now switch back and forth between a number of foundations: MAC studio fix liquid, Diorskin Nude, Dior BB Cream, and makeup forever HD foundation. But i LOVE the bare minerals blot powder compact!!

Also, if you like bare minerals, everyday minerals, i found, was the same quality for cheaper. They have more options for color too!

I love it, but I think the brush quality has gone down hill (and it really requires a good brush)-I bought a new brush like 2 years ago (because the handle fell off my original one) and it doesn't seem to go on as well with the new brush. I've started wearing garnier bb cream and when i need full coverage, i'll wear my bare minerals foundation...when i'm just putzing around, ill do the bb cream and bare minerals faux tan and it just makes my skin look fresh. I think the BB cream helps it stay on and not look so clumpy if you have dry or uneven skin (I've done primers with it too, and they're awesome, I actually wore bare minerals on my wedding day with laura mercier primer and it stayed on great, but the BB cream is a lot cheaper and I think more versatile)

Ghost Town

Some may remember me - got married earlier this year and stopped logging on a few months back. Decided to pop back and check out what's been happening and answer is: not a lot!

I know topics were starting to wane by the time I left the scene, but I find it so sad just how quiet the forum has become - not just OT, but even WP is pretty barren.

I've been looking back at the conversations and threads I was involved in and it almost brings tears to my eyes (okay, over-exaggerating a little) how helpful and friendly and brilliant the discussions were and it does make me upset that things are much less active nowadays.

There's no real point to this topic and no doubt I'll slink off with my tail between my legs once I log out shortly, but yeah, it's just made me #totesemoshe.

Merry Christmas, everyone. Love to all!

I have very, very oily skin, and I don't like it that much anymore. I keep using it basically because I don't have a better option. I also have bad acne, so I have two choices: Just cover the acne spots, which leaves me looking uneven elsewhere and cakes by noon, or cover everything, which settles into my pores and cakes by noon. I've tried primer, too! I think I'm just doomed though to never be able to wear makeup well, thanks to the oil slick that is my face.

How to Use the Bare Minerals Starter Kit

by Amy Garner @ Be Electrifying – Stay happy, stay healthy, stay beautiful…

Applying Bare Minerals Is a Science… Ok, Not Really Chances are, you have the Bare Minerals Starter Kit. If not, read this post to find out where to buy it at the most reasonable price, and what you get in your starter kit. So, assuming you have it, you are probably in the position I was… what the heck do I do with this stuff? Read On for Instructions on How to Use the Bare Minerals Starter Kit I will take you step-by-step in how and when to apply the different products. Recommended to be applied on a clean face. Apply your favorite moisturizer. Allow your moisturizer to dry completely, then apply the Bare Minerals PrimeTime Primer. Let the primer dry completely. I usually dry my hair or get dressed while waiting. Take your favorite application brush, our number #1 pick is the Bare Minerals Beautiful Finish Brush. You can use any brush you have, but ultimately, when you have the extra cash, get this brush. There is something about it that makes your foundation look seamless. Next, apply the warmth all over face color. I also like the bronzer if you are a sun-tanner like I am. It works great, even in the winter. I usually apply my eyeliner, eye shadow if you wear it, brow liner, and mascara last. I know this is about Bare Minerals, but our favorite brow liner is made by IT Cosmetics. Just trust us. Last, take your application brush, and apply the mineral veil powder. I use it on my cheekbones and above my eyebrows. Try to avoid your nose unless you really want it to stand out. Do not apply this powder to your entire face. Keep in mind that where you apply it is what is going to “glow”. I know that I do not want my nose or chin glowing. The choice is yours. Once you have followed the steps above, you will naturally want to apply your Bare Minerals products in the same fashion.

I think it depends how much cover you need. It's good for light coverage, but I don't think it looks natural when you need more coverage. Studio FX from Sephora is a great but light foundation that I use when my face is misbehaving. I also like Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizers for a medium coverage.

Does Meaningful Beauty Glowing Serum Really Glow?

by Amy Garner @ Be Electrifying – Stay happy, stay healthy, stay beautiful…

If you are a regular reader of Be Electrifying, you may have already read the review on my initial purchase of the 7 piece youth enhancing system. If you are not a regular reader, you can sign up on the right side of this page. I wanted to give the glowing serum it’s own review, as I feel it deserves it. Although I did not recommend that you purchase the entire kit, there are different products from it that I do like, and the serum is one of them. After you cleanse your face and apply your preferred moisturizer, you then apply the glowing serum (be sure the moisturizer is completely dry). Once the serum is dry, you can then apply your make-up (if you wear it). I noticed an immediate difference in the look of my skin after applying the Meaningful Beauty Glowing Serum. It’s hard to explain, but it does give your face a “glow”. I wear Bare Minerals make-up, and I love the Mineral Veil Powder. I began wearing it long before trying the Meaningful Beauty product line. Although I use the glowing serum, I still love the look of the Mineral Veil, so I apply it after I am completely done with my make-up, and it complements the glowing serum perfect. I will continue to use both products for a flawless look. If you want to try out the entire Meaningful Beauty product line, obviously the choice is yours, but I hardly ever use the same product brand for all of my face care needs. I find something from one brand that I like, and I stick with it. For this reason, I am a huge Amazon lover. I purchase almost all of my beauty products there. Unfortunately, at the time of this post, the Glowing Serum is not available to purchase on Amazon. You can however purchase the Mineral Veil. Be careful that you don’t accidentally purchase the illuminating mineral veil unless you really want a shine!

Origins Ginzing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer – Give Your Skin a Boost

by Amy Garner @ Be Electrifying – Stay happy, stay healthy, stay beautiful…

Origins Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream – A Review As people continue to spend most of their time outdoors while traveling to work , dropping their kids off to the weekend classes, doing a variety of shopping and attending to professional assignments, to name a few, their skin, both facial and bodily skin, continue to get fully exposed to some of the nasty elements of the weather. Over a period of time, people tend to get a feeling that their skin has lost its luster and brightness and has become dull and jaded. Moisturizers play a vital role in reinvigorating the skin and providing the much needed freshness and brightness that have been missing for quite some time. Particularly moisturizers that are made out of plant and seed extracts are much more beneficial than the moisturizers that come stuffed with artificial chemical substitutes. One such cream that is made out of pure and natural plant extracts is the Origins Ginzing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer. Click Here For More Information This face product contains Ginseng and Coffee beans extract in its purest form and are suitable for different skin types including dry, oily and normal skin. My Bare Minerals Starter Kit Review

My Bare Minerals Starter Kit Review

Be Electrifying - Stay happy, stay healthy, stay beautiful...

A Full Review, and a Price Comparison of Bare Minerals Starter Kit on Amazon I just started wearing Bare Minerals in the summer of 2016. It was a product line I had been wanting to try, but I was so attached to the “compact foundation” I had been using for nearly 20 years, that I was comfortable, so I kept putting it off. In my early 20’s, I began using Clinique’s matte powder, and I absolutely loved it. I had a bit of trouble with my skin in my earlier days when I suffered from mild acne breakouts (you can read my review of X-Out vs. Proactive here if you too have a mild acne condition), and this foundation did a wonderful job at smoothing out my skin. No that I am a bit older, I was looking for something that was less obvious that I was wearing makeup, and I wanted my face to look more natural, yet have a slight “glow”. I had seen the commercials time and time again, so while shopping at the mall, I decided to go in to their boutique. I purchased the Bare Minerals starter kit, which at that time included: foundation powder one foundation brush eyeshadow brush Prime Time foundation primer bronzer BareSkin serum concealer lip color mineral veil powder and of course the Bare Minerals makeup bag. Let’s Review the Price of Bare Minerals vs. Buying it on Amazon The prices are accurate as of the time of this post, but always check Amazon to make sure that they have not changed. How I Use Each Product: The Matte Foundation – Medium Beige Review I applied the matte foundation after applying the primer, but it certainly did not look “flawless”. It was hot, and I was going to my daughter’s soccer game. I looked in the mirror in the car, and it looked like I had liquid foundation on. Needless to say, I was disappointed, but I knew that I had done something wrong. I might add that it was the first time I had used primer under my foundation, so keep reading because this is important. When I got home, I did a little research, and I learned that after you apply your moisturizer, you have to let it dry completely before applying the primer, and then the same thing applies with the primer – let it dry! Only then do you put on the foundation. This foundation will last you approximately 3 months depending on how often you use it. I just replaced mine this week (December 15, 2016). Here is a screenshot of my receipt, just so you know that I really do use Bare Minerals products. The Foundation Brush Review I have to be honest, when the girl (young girl) who was helping me at the Bare Minerals Boutique began talking about all of the different brushes, I thought, now this is crazy. Why can’t you just buy a $10 brush from the drug store? Let me …

I used to use Bare Minerals, but I have found the the Loreal version seems to work the same for me. Its cheaper and you get a new brush every time. The Loreal also lasts longer on my face. I'm cheap so I didn't like paying $25 a month for foundation. Loreal goes on sale at Target for $12 or BOGO alot. :)

Does anyone use it? I want to change up my makeup routine, while still covering up all the "trouble" spots (freckles, fine lines and dark circles)

So, for those that use it... is it quick to apply? Does it really cover up the problem areas? And does it look natural after it's on or does it look caked on?

I used to use it and liked it a lot but my skin got sensitive to the brush after a while from how u apply it so I stopped. The only thing I noticed is that if my skin was really dry and occasionally flaky in spots it drew alot of attention to it but that's really with any makeup. It definitely covers well. I used to love the concealer.
I was actually considering going back to it recently.

Ghost Town

by Pooba @ Off Topic Posts

April_Showers on "Bare Minerals"

by April_Showers @ Hellobee Boards Topic: Bare Minerals

I wear it and LOVE it. The girls in our boutique here are very knowledgeable about the products. I love that my skin doesn't react to it. I agree wth PhillyBaby though...if you are prone to dry skin it can call attention to it, but the primer does help keep your skin supple for application. On my really dry days though I wish I had a liquid foundation. But I think their newest Ready Go foundation is supposed to be better.

I have everything...primer, concealer, foundation, warmth and mineral veil. Daily I use the primer, foundation, warmth, and mineral veil and it does amazingly well for covering up. You just pat on a little extra. When I am going somewhere nice...need extra make-up then I use a little concealer too.

@Phillybaby2013: I have this issue too with their brushes. I asked about it in the store, and they said that it sounded like my brushes lost their natural oils which keep the brush soft. If you don't wash enough...or with the wrong products it can cause this to happen faster. She also said that with regular daily use all make up brushes need to be replaced about once every 12-18 mths. HTH!
